Following in his parents’ footsteps, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino Ill chose a life of public service, beginning his political career in the House of Representatives in 1998. He later served in the Senate, where he focused on transparency, accountability, and good governance. Through his work, he honored the legacy of Ninoy and Cory Aquino, continuing their lifelong commitment to democracy and honest leadership.
2010 PRESIDENTIAL RUN
In 2010, Benigno “Noynoy” Aquino III ran for president under the slogan “Kung walang corrupt, walang mahirap,” a message that resonated strongly at a time when the outgoing administration was marred by widespread corruption. Motivated by the people’s clamor for honest governance after his mother’s death, he sought to restore integrity and trust in public service. His campaign became a rallying point for Filipinos who believed that fighting corruption was key to lifting the nation from poverty.
PNOY
After winning the 2010 election by a wide margin, President Noynoy Aquino emphasized his belief in servant leadership through his famous line, “Kayo ang boss ko.” He symbolically banned the use of wang-wang—sirens used by officials to bypass traffic—to show that no one was above the law. His administration championed the Daang Matuwid or “Straight Path,” a governance philosophy centered on honesty, accountability, and public trust.
THE RISING TIGER
Through his Daang Matuwid governance and anti-corruption reforms, President Noynoy Aquino restored investor confidence and strengthened the country’s economy. The Philippines achieved consistent growth, improved credit ratings, and gained recognition as one of Asia’s fastest-rising economies. This earned the nation the title “Rising Tiger of Asia,” reflecting renewed global respect and optimism for the country’s future.
ZERO CLASSROOM BACKLOG
Under President Noynoy Aquino’s administration, the government achieved a historic milestone of eliminating the nationwide classroom backlog. By prioritizing education funding and infrastructure, thousands of new classrooms were built to meet the needs of a growing student population. This accomplishment reflected his belief that quality education was essential to lasting national progress.
ANG SA PILIPINAS AY SA PILIPINAS
President Noynoy Aquino led a firm and principled stand in defending the Philippines’ sovereignty over the West Philippine Sea. His administration filed an international arbitration case against China, asserting the country’s rightful claims under international law. In 2016, the Philippines won the case—an unprecedented victory that affirmed its maritime rights and strengthened its position on the global stage.
